Several years ago, Kempinski laid the foundation stone for the Kempinski Erbil Park Hotel - the first international hotel chain to enter Kurdistan Region then - amid a large media frenzy. But due to unknown reasons, the renowned German hotelier pulled out from the project, and now the same building will become the Erbil Divan Park Hotel (managed by a Turkish hotel group).
Recently, the Kurdistan Investment Board gave a new license for, again, another hotel: The Erbil Kempinski Hotel (surprise, surprise... the Germans are back again!).
The new Erbil Kempinski Hotel (not far from its previously announced site) is located between Erbil Rotana Hotel and the fast-food complex on Gulan Road (close to the Italian City, and opposite the Sami Abdulrahman Park.
The hotel, with 28 floors, as described on the rendering, will become a true icon in Erbil, with a contemporary design unmatched in this city. Let's wait and see - the Erbil Kempinski Hotel is expected to open in 2013, and the owners claim they have a good surprise for us...well, iErbil already revealed much of it!
