According to aknews, The Ministry of Culture and Youth has allocated 17 million US Dollar to renovate Seventeen stadiums across Iraqi Kurdistan and to create new sport centres in several cities in the Kurdistan Region.

From the allocated budget, Erbil will receive 3.9 million US Dollar to renovate stadiums in the city and its suburbs. A new stadium will be constructed in Khabat district at the cost of 425.000 US Dollar, and 850.000 US Dollar will be used to construct a new sport centre in Makhmur, 76 km south western Erbil city.

2.6 US Dollar is allocated to renovate stadiums in Sulaymaniyah. 1.7 million US Dollar is allocated to several cities in Garmiyan area, whereof 1.5 million will be used to construct a new stadium.

The Ministry of Finance has agreed to fund the project, which will be put out to tender soon.
