Japan solves electricity problems in Iraqi Kurdistan

The Ministry of Planning has announced that JICA, Japan International Cooperation Agency, executes three big projects in Iraqi Kurdistan at a total cost of 600 million U.S. dollar.

 

The projects include the development of the electricity sector in Iraqi Kuridstan, the creation of water channels in Halabja city to supply it with water, establishing hydroelectric station in Duhok to increase electricity generation in the Kurdistan Region.

 

The three projects will be executed through co-financing, Iraqi Kurdistan pays merely 10 percent of the total cost.

 

The Minister of Planning in Iraqi Kurdistan has expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Japan in general and to JICA in particular. The minister emphasized the readiness of the Iraqi Kurdistan to provide all facilities needed to the company.
