Kazak Kurds to perform in Erbil festivals this month

Erbil - A Kurdish dance group from Kazakhstan are preparing to perform 20 different dances in the upcoming festivals in Erbil to mark the anniversary of the 1991 Kurdish uprisings and Newroz festivities.

 

The 7 young men and women of the Kazak Kurds Folklore Dance Group, will perform Kurdish foklore dances, except for one Kazak folklore dance.

 

Dance groups from all over the world have been invited to the festivals entitled Freedom and Newroz, on March 14-20 in Shanadar Park. So far 25 groups have arrived in Ebril.

 

The 1991 uprising of Kurdistan people against the former Iraqi regime in 1991 is marked by a public holiday on March 5.

 

Newroz, on March 21, marks the first day of the Kurdish calendar and also the first day of spring.
