Kurdistan plans to implement 40 tourism projects during 2013

Nader Rostay, the official Kurdistan Tourism Committee spokesman, announced in a press conference that 65 locations has been pointed out to start 40 tourism projects during the current year, saying that visits of tourists to the region has increased by 30%. Over the 5 past years.

 

Rostay added: “Kurdistan Tourism committee has a long term plan to build 400 tourism locations during the next 25 years” explaining that "the year 2012 recorded an increase of 30% in the establishment of projects and tourist facilities in the region”

 

Rostay pointed out “the security conditions in Iraq negatively impacted the foreign investments in Kurdistan region, because they see it as a part of Iraq” . adding that land ownership is another obstacle to tourism investment projects and authorities are working to solve these obstacles.

 

According to the Kurdistan Tourism Committee, more than 416.000 tourists has visited The Kurdistan region in the first three months of this year, and more than 2 million tourists has visited Kurdistan in 2012.
