Prime Minister Barham Salih of the Kurdistan Regional Government chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet in Erbil on May 20th, 2010. They discussed the joint Trade and Economic Forum of the Kurdistan Region and the United Arab Emirates, which was held on May 19th. The Cabinet agreed that the Forum was an important step towards attracting foreign investment to the Kurdistan Region and helping with its reconstruction efforts.

The Cabinet also discussed the decentralization of government authority, with more powers to be given to the governorates in an effort to improve government efficiency and public service provision. The meeting went on to discuss the special committe recommendations regarding government employment mechanisms and the criteria that new appointments at government institutions should satisfy.
