This February: Watch Rugby in Erbil at the Institut Français

Thursday, 02 February 2012

Rugby fans in Kurdistan Region have an important fixture this month: the Institut Français (aka, French Cultural Center) in Erbil will host live-televised matches of the 6 Nations Championship inside their premises.

These are the scheduled games being shown on screens at the Institut Français:

Saturday, February 4th: France v Italy (starting 17.30pm);
Sunday, February 26th: France v Scotland (starting 18.00pm).

The 2012 Six Nations Championship, known as the 2012 RBS 6 Nations due to the tournament's sponsorship by the Royal Bank of Scotland, will be the 13th series of the Six Nations Championship. The annual northern hemisphere rugby  union championship is contested by France, Italy, England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales – hence the name "Six Nations."

Including the competition's previous incarnations as the Home Nations Championship and Five Nations Championship, it will be the 118th edition of the annual Northern Hemisphere championship.

For the first time since the 2008 Six Nations Championship, there will be no Friday night fixtures in 2012.

Don't miss this event at the French Cultural Center: it's not just an ideal opportunity for a rugby fans' rendez-vous, it also offers you a chance to socialize with others in a sports-conscious environment.
