Erbil-Cairo flights to launch soon

The Egyptian Consul General to Kurdistan Region Suleiman Othman said the flights between Egypt and the Region will operate in December and the passengers to Egypt can get their visa in Erbil, the Kurdistan Region's capital. sleman osmanIn an interview with AKnews Monday, the consul said the national Nile Airlines will launch Cairo-Erbil and Sulaimaniya-Cairo flights.

There are two international airports in Kurdistan, Erbil and Sulaimaniya. Sulaimaniya is another province in the Region. "This step will definitely improve the bilateral relations," the consul said. He added after the Egyptian consulate is officially inaugurated in Erbil, it will issue Egypt visas for the Kurdistan residents. Last week Othman took over in Kurdistan Region. He is also only and first Arab consul to Kurdistan. His office was established after the recent visit by the top Kurdish officials to Egypt. Some 18 countries have representative offices in Kurdistan. The number is expected to rise while the Region is promoting its image as a safe area in the war-torn Iraq. Recently the direct flights between Doha and Sulaimaniya were also operated.
