State airline launchs flights between Erbil and Istanbul

The Turkish Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Aydin Selcen, said Wednesday in a near future the Turkish state-funded THY airline will launch direct flights between the Regional capital, Erbil and Istanbul in Turkey. He added some Turkish banks will open their branches in the Region as well.

The consul said the airline will operate four flights per week and later will undertake Sulaimaniya –Istanbul flights, too. Sulaimaniya is another province in the Kurdistan Region.

Currently the private Atlas Jet conducts four flights between the Turkey and Kurdistan Region every week. Some renounced Turkish banks as agriculture, endowment and business will open their branches in Erbil.
