Tourist Rate cuts and plans to construct Hotels in Soran and Rawanduz

Officials in the field plan for more facilities to attract more visitors to Soran and Rawanduz. Tourism official from Ruwanduz plan to boost tourism in the area by decreasing the rates for tourists accommodations.

For the low budget houses the officials charged approximately 218,- U.S. Dollar, but that was reduced to about 132,- U.S. Dollar.

For the smaller houses the rate decreased from nearly 149,- U.S. Dollar to nearly 115,- U.S. Dollar As for the luxurious houses the rate dropped from 500,- Dollar to 300,- Dollar per night. The officials said the cut has been effectively conducive for the arrival of tourists. In the past two months nearly 30,000 tourists visited the natural park in Ruwanduz.

The park covers a wide area where several kinds of entertainment are available and the visitors can also enjoy the stunning attractions of the mountainous of Ruwanduz. About 265,206 U.S. Dollar, has been allocated by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to improve the resorts in northern Kurdistan, including those of Ruwanduz and Soran, said Mawlud Jabar, the tourism director of Erbil, the Kurdistan Region’s capital.

Opening offices to receive the tourists and guide them is high on the list for the improvement plans, the director said that adding the offices will also conduct the statistics about the tourists. The founding stone for two hotels in Soran will be laid in the two coming weeks. This is the part of the “wide-ranging” plans for Soran and Ruwanduz and the rest will be announced later.
