New Council for protecting consumers rights in Iraqi Kurdistan

According to Aknews, the kurdish news agency, the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Iraqi Kurdistan is working on a plan to form a council for protecting consumers rights

 

Planning director general at the ministry Suwar Aziz said the council is another attempt to regulate the markets exchange and to prevent the introduction of low quality products into Kurdistan's markets.

 

The Council will act as the observer of market exchanges to protect the consumers rights. Consumers will have the opportunity to complain about products they bought, the Council will investigate these complaints, by controlling the quality of the products. The council shall have the power to impose fines on sellers, and to demand reimbursement to the consumer.

 

The council is established as a collaboration between the Kurdistan Chamber of commerce and Industry and the ministries of interior and transportation.
