Aras Publishers organizes a book signing and talk by Gérard Chaliand, at Aras Publishers on Gulan Street, today at 4pm.

The Arabic translation of A People Without a Country:The Kurds of Kurdistan is being released by Aras Publishers (who are also the owners of AKnews). Chaliand will talk about his book, his experiences in Kurdistan and his time with the Peshmarga for 45 mins, after which the floor will be open to any questions.

Chaliand has spent around 40 years in more than 60 countries researching guerrilla warfare and international and strategic relations, including Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya and Sri Lanka. 30 of those years were spent in the mountains of Kurdistan, documenting the life of the Peshmarga. He has written several books and has visiting professorships in universities around the world, including Harvard and Berkeley.

Also in attendance (but not speaking) is French writer and photographer Chis Kutschera, who also spent decades in the mountains with the Peshmarga.

Refreshments and nibbles will be available.
