Mircrosoft Imagine Cup in Erbil

The KRG Department of IT organize Imagine Cup Kurdistan Region of Iraq 2012, the premier student technology competition. It is a joint initiative between KRG Department of IT and Microsoft to promote and foster creativity within the Kurdistan Region.

 

Imagine Cup is the Microsoft’s annual event taking place at a different country each year, and the Imagine Cup 2012 finalists’ competition will take place in Sydney, Australia next July. The Imagine Cup is the world’s premier student technology competition that will bring young technologists and students to use their imagination and passion to create a technology solution that helps solve the toughest problems through the power of IT. Since 2003, over 1.4 million students have participated in the Imagine Cup with 358,000 students representing 183 countries and regions registering for the Imagine Cup 2011 competition.

 

Imagine Cup is the premier student technology competition in the world, and thousands of students from all over the world have participated in the competition. The KRG Department of IT adopted this competition for the Kurdistan region or Iraq. Imagine Cup Kurdistan 2011 was a very successful event, and a great promotion to the capability and ability of the students in the region.

 

The Imagine cup Kurdistan has grown to become a positive and creative opportunity for all those who participate. We have 13 Universities/Colleges participating in this year's event, and 54 confirmed student teams (200 participants). This is a 170% increase from last year's Imagine Cup event.

 

The Imagine Cup will take place over two days in Kurdistan, 15th of March will mainly be the qualifiers held in the IT Academy. 16th of March will be the live finals, which will take place in the Saad Hall. Top 3 teams will present their projects on stage in the live event.
